Orkney IT

Orkney has a huge range of internet and IT service providers ready to help businesses run and promote their services.  The ease of working from any location through improved telecommunications has created a comprehensive service in IT right across the islands.

Services offered include small and large business IT support, website design, building and support, computer graphics and imaging, multimedia, IT advice, technical support and consultancy, internet training and hardware and software sales.

Orkneycommunities.co.uk offers an online community directory for local groups to upload news and events and an image library. Libraries offer internet access and wi-fi and there is an internet café at Support Training in Kirkwall which also offers training and services such as CD burning.  Orkney College runs HNC/HND courses in information technology.  More advice for IT and business development is available from Orkney Business Gateway and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

There are several companies in Orkney selling computers, hardware and software and other office supplies.

Orkney has been chosen as a pilot area for superfast broadband connections which will greatly enhance connectivity in many areas.
