The Orkney Islands offers a wealth of photographic opportunities.

There is a huge range of subjects to capture here, but personally I am interested in Orkney's landscapes and dramatic seascapes; its neolithic heritage; its abandoned relics from both World Wars; and its astro-photographic potential. I believe it is the quality of the light here in Orkney which, in common with that of many other Scottish islands situated away from major urban conurbations, lends itself to capturing sparkling images in crystal clear light. This quality of light is particularly apparent on clear nights, when one can experience a sky free of any light pollution, particularly away from Kirkwall and Stromness.
