‘Isle of Auskerry’ produces a wide range of handmade, natural products: throws spun and woven in Scottish mills, felted products from cushions to coasters and sheepskin rugs in a large range of natural colours. We also make many other items perfect for gifts; ranging from knitting kits and yarn, to sheepskin insoles for your slippers and rugs for Doll's Houses.

Both the source and inspiration for these products come from our flock of North Ronaldsay sheep, known locally as Rollies. These sheep are a 'rare' breed as there are so few of them left and are unique for many reasons. Unusually for sheep, they live largely on a diet of seaweed and are therefore superbly adapted to an island life where they are free to roam the beaches for their food.

By making our living from these sheep we are helping to conserve the breed, helping to ensure the continuing healthy existence of their characteristic genes.  By choosing to farm them on our small isolated island where we live alone with our family, we are keeping some of the old traditions of island life alive too.
